The Villa
We went from icy cold in 2018 to tropical heat in 2019. With a direct Emirates flight taking us to Phuket, and a chauffeur driven pick-up on arrival – the team got whisked to the Surin Beach location up some very steep hills to the majestic palace that is Villa Zavier! The imposing property creates suspense upon arrival. A 30ft glass lift took us directly to an outdoor, open seating area where we were met by staff, canopies and drinks – what a start!
Once inside the brokers ran around trying to make sense of the enormous space they could call home for 5 days. Set over 4 floors, over 30,000 sq.ft of living area, 8 bedrooms, a cinema, multiple dining areas, a bowling alley, wine cellar, koi carp fish pond and driving range – not to mention the centre-piece 42m freshwater infinity pool with built in Jacuzzi and unobstructed views of the spectacular Andaman sea. World class would not be an understatement.
The villa was very much open plan with bi-folding doors benefitting the in/out living space. The sound system was immense and was well used in the time spent there! Built into the side of a mountain and little around in terms of surrounding buildings or people, the vibe was definitely ‘party’. The pool was used continuously, both night and day!
A number of in-house staff including a driver, a chef, a resort Manager, cleaners and waitresses completed the package. The team utilized these fully with amazing seafood barbeques, drop-off’s to the in(famous) Patong strip and essentially being catered for like the proverbial ‘rock stars’.
Comments such as “This is the best holiday I have been on”, “I am 100 % coming back here with my family and friends” and “Can I pay to come on the trip next year, even if I do not win?” let the Directors know that this vacation was a massive success!
Closing piece
Phuket – a mix of luxury, poverty, beaches, beach clubs, sun, thunderstorms and the typical Thai nightlife that sometimes makes you stop and stare! From sushi and sundowners at Café Del Mar and Catch beach clubs, to crazy tuc-tuc rides, from jet-skis to massages. And some very early mornings returning to the comforts of Zavier...
The purpose of these trips is to incentivize our brokers, give motivation and create morale. Much more than that we have realized that spending such close time with our colleagues has genuinely created lifetime bonds. The Directors enjoyed getting to know the brokers on a more personal level and the only negative was that it just wasn’t long enough.
